The north London band M.O.T started back in 2004 by five friends who shared a common interest in rock, ska, reggae and punk and wanted to combine these musical genres and turn them into their own unique style. The band write about a number of different subjects depicting everyday life. The Kinks, Madness and The Specials are an obvious influence on these quirky, bitter sweet guitar tales of modern urban living, shot through with dry wit and humour.
Well established on the London unsigned circuit, The band have a residency at the Dublin Castle and play the second Saturday of each month, This has helped the band build up a large following around London and their gigs are always memorable with resemblance to early gigs of all the great bands who have graced the Dublin Castle, Hope & Anchor and 12bar club down the years.
The band have recently been in the studio recording a track for the 30th anniversary Madness tribute album which will be released in early September on Big8 Records.
Because they have such a wide range of musical influence and such a large catalogue of songs their is bound to be something for your taste and to get you dancing, so If you haven't seen this band play get yourself to one of their residency nights at the Dublin Castle and see for yourself why the owner says they're the best band to play there since the last band to be given a residency which was Madness 30 years ago.
We’re currently sitting in the studio preparing to record 4 new tunes. This place is amazing. www.soupstudio.co.uk – check it out. Its above a ukelele shop called The Duke of Uke. Lots of toys to play with. Surrounded by vintage equipment. Getting really good vibes about this place. I’ll post some pics soon. Phil x
